Ebook About If anyone ever said being an adult was easy, they hadn't been one long enough.Diana Casillas can admit it: she doesn't know what the hell she's doing half the time. How she's made it through the last two years of her life without killing anyone is nothing short of a miracle. Being a grown-up wasn’t supposed to be so hard. With a new house, two little boys she inherited the most painful possible way, a giant dog, a job she usually loves, more than enough family, and friends, she has almost everything she could ever ask for.Except for a boyfriend.Or a husband. But who needs either one of those?---An Amazon Top 10 Best SellerA 2017 Goodreads Choice Awards Finalist in the Romance CategoryBook Wait for It Review :
Have you ever had a conversation with someone where they ask you what you would do in a certain situation. My answer is always that I wouldn’t know what to do in a situation I hadn’t been in before until I was actually going through it. It’s easy to say and think about how you think you would handle/ react to something that hasn’t happened but actually having to face it for real is another thing altogether. That is pretty much what happens to Diana. Her brother died and left her in sole custody of his two sons, her nephews. Everything in her life changed the moment those boys came to live with her. And wow, what a huge responsibility for her.You know what though, it was also an amazing blessing – out of all the people in the world, she was the one that her brother entrusted with his precious children. The most beautiful way she can honour her brother is to raise them the best way she can, keeping his memory alive in the little boys he gave life to.I loved this little family. Diana absolutely adores Josh & Lou and they loved her right back. She has had many moments of self doubt and is often worried about living up to other people’s expectations. Everything she does in her daily life now is with the boys in the front of her mind. She is creating new memories for them and her own personal life has been put on the back burner. Therefore when she moves into a new house with the boys, the last thing she was expecting was to meet Dallas, her hot sexy neighbour. Their friendship gets off to a rocky start but they eventually moved into an easy, platonic relationship together. He is great with the boys and they often find themselves confiding in each other about anything and everything.“How can I miss you so much when I just saw you yesterday?”Dallas is not a man who shows a lot of emotion but one thing that Diana learns about him is that he is a man of her word, an honourable man who values trust and loyalty above all else. This is the very reason why taking a step with Diana that would ultimately change their whole friendship is not something he takes lightly.I just wanted these two to get it on like donkey so badly and I really enjoyed the anticipation of waiting for Dallas and Diana to take that step together and OMG the wait was sooooo worth it. Seriously, this man had me swooning big time. It’s not just about a guy falling in love with a girl but falling love with her kids too."Someone who loved you would do what’s best for you; they’d stand up for you and sacrifice. Someone who loved you would face any inconvenience willingly. You didn’t know what love was until someone was willing to give up what they loved the most for you. But it was also never letting them make that choice, either.”I was crying one moment and laughing the next right through this story. I felt all the raw emotion coursing through Diana in certain moments and I cried with her. This story completely encapsulates the definition of sacrifice and unconditional love. This author is the queen of slow building stories and she definitely did well to keep me invested in this story from beginning to end. This book was freaking awesome! Spoilers abound.@ 30% the couple has had their first longer than 3-second interaction@ 50% they’ve had longer than their first 5-minute interaction.@ 70% they’ve had their first heart to heart@ 90% they’ve had their first kiss@ 98% they’ve done the nastyThe first half of the book was from a romance perspective a large waste of time. The most interesting part of this book was the relationship between the h and her sons. I teared up. Found it touching and all. But I also signed up to read a romance. Not...whatever this was.I am worried now that the wall of Winnipeg and kulti are exceptions to MZs list and not the norm. Because after those two I’ve tried the MC one and this one and neither were as good as those first two and in a way feel like they were written by her maybe at the beginning of her career? I’d have to go back and look at the dates.I also feel like maybe I missed a recommended reading order somewhere because it irks me how much I hear about other couples from other books that I haven’t read about yet. Just massive spoilers. I also don’t particularly like reading about those couples period and this book dedicated at least 50 pages of 500 to Vanny, Sal and someone else from another book whose name I can’t remember. I skipped over all of those sections annoyed. Also COME ON. A terrible ex, a biological mom, a dead brother, another biological mom who commits suicide on top of all the stuff happening in the present. This is just way way too much. It’s as if MZ knew the romance aspect of the book was boring so she had to throw in as many literary devices in the form of harrowing backstories as she could think of.Overall I adore this author. This book is the worst of her list I’ve read so far but I don’t doubt that even the worst MZ is still among the top CRs out there.
